Before we leave on the next leg of our constant adventure, I wanted to make sure I put the rest of our Brazil photos out there for your enjoyment. Unfortunately, since I purchased an iPhone, I have been very neglectful of bringing my DSLR out in port with me. It’s really a shame because the difference in quality is now extremely obvious to me. Oh well, you live you learn!
BOCA DA VALERIA
This is one of the COOLEST places I’ve been. No shops, no restaurants, just a local village. Unfortunately they used a wide array of indigenous animals to attract us and while I would like to say that I resisted (for the good of the poor, exploited creatures), but I couldn’t help but snuggle the sloths. It wasn’t merely a photo op for me though – I genuinely wanted to cuddle with them for hours. The good news about them is that every other ‘pet’ was restrained but not the little slowpokes, so I felt a bit better about that…
What I also loved about this port, was our opportunity to go out with a local in a small boat through some small tributaries of the Amazon, completely surrounded by nature. Lovely!
RECIFE
This port was great because we had absolutely no expectations. We ended up wandering through crowded market streets, dining at a strange buffet, and watching an amazing street dancing performance. Loved it! These fun umbrellas were EVERYWHERE!
MANAUS
LOVE Manaus. We opted to go swimming with wild pink dolphins in the river, and that was amazing! UNREAL! But unfortunately we filmed most of it as opposed to taking photos but I do have one that I stole from a friend, and one from the boat ride to get there:
We also had a look around the famous Teatro Amazonas. Just as beautiful as ever!
ILHABELA
Another great surprise! A lovely beach town comprised of mainly local shops with only a few chain names making it there. Lovely weather as well!
MACEIO
We had a very small amount of time to enjoy this port so we didn’t get up to much besides enjoying some lovely beach time. Nice, huh?
