Rob and I have been on the brink of Rome numerous times! Civitavecchia is often an embarkation port for Mediterranean cruises. That’s probably a 45-minute drive from Roma, but since we ALWAYS work starting at midday during embarkation day, for years we put off our trip to the famous city, not wanting to rush through it. We would return one day with time to spare in order to REALLY take it in…
And then something crazy happened! We stopped in Civitavecchia on a normal port day! Which means we didn’t have to work until evening time! So even though it was still a rushed day, we booked a crew tour by bus to see some of the highlights. Unfortunately (yet as expected) we didn’t see much in the time we had, but at least it was a great little taster. We did manage to pop inside the Vatican for a whirlwind walk-through, and Rob even got to send a postcard (that’s kind of his thing) from Vatican City, a new country for us! We also set foot outside the Colosseum and drove past Circus Maximus, the ancient track where the chariots races were held. Absolutely breathtaking!
Great photos!

You should give photography lessons. Those are fantastic. Read this last night and came back to it again this morning.
