Generally these two things should not be enjoyed together, but if the drinkers aren’t the drivers, it makes for an exciting afternoon!
Four of us headed out in a taxi to see some sights of Sri Lanka’s capital, including both a Buddhist and Hindu temple, as well as Colombo Beach. The problem with this though, is the traffic can be very difficult to maneuver through, especially for a van the size as ours. We must have spent the same amount of time in the taxi as we did at each stop. It wasn’t so bad though, there is no way we would have seen anything if we hadn’t arranged that.
After the hustle and bustle of commuting between must-sees, we got dropped at a local fusion restaurant where we feasted on delicious food, unfortunately none of it was Sri Lankan but the flavors were amazing!
Three pitchers of mojitos later, we paired off and hopped in tuk tuks to get back to the ship, our drivers loving every minute of the race they made it into. Ours even had me sit in front next to him to help out with the steering. What an afternoon – day drinking can surely turn a mediocre day into one most memorable! I think I ingested more sugar via mojito than I had in total the previous 3 months…
As one of our friends scream-declared as the sped past us on our race:
