Civitavecchia is the port town that is nearest to Rome. Our ship stays in port longer here so that guests have the time to make the commute to the famous ancient city. Rob had to work in the middle of the day. It didn’t totally disappoint us though because in reality it would be packed since there are multiple ships docked and England isn’t all that far away anyway, so we will see it eventually when time is more on our side.
Instead we walked around the small town in search of details for our Halloween costumes, of which we surprisingly found some. We also found a little market and a small park with a big icon. Remember that famous photo with the sailor kissing a stranger in NYC in the forties? There is a statue in Italy of the scene magnified times like twenty. The couple is HUGE! It’s very sweet.
